Did you know that in the U. S., roughly two out of three adults are overweight or obese?
This is crazy. One out of three people is at a healthy weight at best. [00:02:00] I personally hope that you are part of the 30 percent that is not overweight or obese, but if you aren't, you're not alone. You might be feeling self conscious about your body. Maybe you're frustrated and constantly feeling fatigued, having difficulty breathing, or experiencing joint and reduced mobility.

I'm Johnny, by the way, I am a ultra runner, a certified yoga teacher, [00:04:00] and an athlete with asthma. I've had asthma since birth. And I was prescribed an inhaler. In addition, I was told at a young age that I would need to take steroids for the rest of my life to strengthen my lungs.
But my parents decided to take a non traditional approach to managing my asthma as a child, and enrolled me in sports. To strengthen my lungs. I became obsessed with soccer and I was told multiple times by different doctors that I would never be a successful soccer player. I was told that I would never be able to be a starter, that I would never be able to play an entire soccer game.
Soccer games are long 90 minutes. How the heck was a child. With asthma, going to be able to play a [00:05:00] full soccer game. Well, despite having asthma, I was not only able to strengthen my lungs and build them up so I could play an entire 90 minute soccer game, I was able to play multiple 90 minute soccer games in their entirety in a single day.
And. multiple days in a row during very intense tournaments that we would have on the weekends. Well, besides being physically active since childhood, I have still had times in my life. Or I have been overweight. For example, back in 2022, I was signed up for the Honolulu marathon, [00:06:00] December, 2022. I trained for six months for the marathon. I was running almost every single day and eating very healthily between my amazing girlfriend's food and going to my parents house on the weekend.
eating what my mom, who's a nutritionist, was cooking for us. So I thought, you know, I'm not even worried about my weight. I'm not even gonna weigh myself. I'm a marathon runner. This is my second official marathon that I'm running and I'm eating healthy. That has to be enough, right? I was so wrong. I was running 25 plus miles every week.
eating healthy meals, and I was still 30 plus pounds overweight. Needless to say, the marathon itself almost crushed me. Yes, I finished it, but I felt terrible at the end. And my marathon time had [00:07:00] increased by more than 30 minutes since the last marathon I ran about a year and a half prior when I weighed significantly less.
So at the time I weighed just under 200 pounds. I am 5'9 so just under 200 pounds at 5 feet 9 inches. Would qualify as moderate obesity. Well, the crazy thing is moderate obesity itself reduces life expectancy by about three years and severe obesity by 10 years. According to Oxford university, this is crazy because 70 percent of Americans fall into one of these two categories.
So 70 percent of our society is living in obesity. 3 to 10 years less than they should be. But what if you could add these 3 to 10 years back to your life? What would you do with this time?
